Teaching Children Over the Holidays

Hi Everyone! Welcome back to my blog, I would like to share with you guys something interesting that I did over the holidays.  Over the holidays, I was teaching children from aged 7-10 to use Canva on Zoom. I thought them various things on Canva, for instance, how to make a poster, an animated video, presentation, how to design customised t-shirts, certificates and many more. Below are some pictures of our classes.

This is me teaching the child on zoom how to make a poster related to Christmas.

This is me teaching the kid how to make a video related to the games that he seemed to be passionate about.
The boy wanted to learn how to make a certificate, he wanted to keep this certificate and got me to sign it as well.
This is the boy designing his own t-shirt. He plans to get the t-shirt printed soon.

Reflection: Teaching Singaporean children is not easy. Some kids are more quiet and calm while others are more aggressive in terms of asking questions. However, it is easier to know wether or not the child understands what you are teaching them if they ask questions. I also noticed that Singaporean kids are very independent and technology advanced, the boy above is a 7 year old boy in Primary 2. It was very satisfying to watch his excitement while he learned about Canva and started exploring Canva under my guidance and supervision. As much as I like teaching children, it was also a challenge to bond with them, to get them to trust you as a teacher and listen to you. It was also challenging to keep the 7 year old boy interested, happy and motivated to learn. Teaching is such a noble job and I appreciate all the teachers who have nurtured me throughout the years. I have still so much to learn about children and I hope to learn more through the more children that I can hopefully experience teaching in the future.
