Comparing & Contrasting News Articles

Hey Guys ! It's me again, so today I am going to post one of my assignments which required me to analyse as well as compare and contrast articles. The reference list in the bottom was the articles which I compared.

The article that Mark gave us is from Facebook, which makes me question whether or not the source is reputable. The introduction is pretty useless and it is not straight to the point, it makes you just want to skip it and try to find out the 7 types of news articles. Although the article has 3,488 views which might be a positive thing. The 7 types of articles are also very briefly explained, they don’t have enough examples and I do not understand it very well. The part where they “try to explain” about press releases and sports news is lacking information. I still appreciate the writer’s attempt to keep it sweet, simple, and brief. (2020).
My first source from bbc.co.uk has a better explanation regarding the different types of newspaper articles. BBC is a well-known, reputable source but the source does not have the name of the author. There is also a better explanation of the types of newspaper articles. There are pictures of newspapers that draw your attention, help you visualize, and help you understand better. There is also a sample article and an explanation that guides me and tells me what to do and what not to do in a news article. However, this article covers fewer types of news writing which only has 3 types compared to Mark’s article which had 7 types.(Newspaper Articles - Non-Fiction Text Types - AQA - GCSE English Language Revision - AQA - BBC Bitesize, n.d.)

My second source from libguides.williams.edu is a very aesthetic website, it is very eye-catching and makes you curious and wants to read the website. They have a good amount of types of news articles such as front page, editorials, letters to the editor, reviews, obituaries, advertisements, and classified ads. I like how there are different segments on the website and you can easily click which type of news article you want to find out more about. I like how everything is properly laid out so it does not give you a headache. The explanations are also more detailed and easy to understand, short but to the point. They also tell you where to locate each section of a type of news article and examples of what each section looks like so it gives me a clearer understanding of what they look like.
