Writing Fundamentals Second Class
Hey everyone ! Welcome back to my blog. For Today’s class we were given a list of stereotypes and we had to expound on how we are or are differerent from that stereotype.
I am Sudiksha Ajit Lachman, an 18-year-old student at Binus International University. I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia on January 18, 2002. My parents were both born in Jakarta. However, my Paternal Grandparents were born in Solo and Surabaya respectively. Although my Maternal Grandparents were born in Jakarta. In addition, my Maternal Great Grandparents were born in India and moved to Indonesia in around 1950 this was how I have the Indian touch or Indian blood. My Maternal Great Grandmother was alive till I was about 13 years old which was in 2015. One of the interesting stories that she told me was when she was in India a long time ago before independence, she was able to witness the war between India and Pakistan. Her story brought me to tears. Because her husband was in war and it was very scary seeing your husband go to work not knowing whether he will come home that night. She also shared with me her struggles having to live during the war time and seeing so much bloodshed and dead bodies right in front of your face.
People usually believe that my generation is into technology. However, I believe that I am not that stereotype and I do not belong to technology. I am more of an old-fashioned kind of student; I prefer pen and paper compared to having to type my answers and email. I also prefer printed books compared to online books because I really enjoy the feeling of being able to flip the pages and just the feeling of being lost in the book and connecting with the characters. I do not get this feeling when I read an online book. As most people enjoy online classes, I really do not enjoy it. I struggle every single morning logging into zoom and not only that, my eyes hurt from staring at the screen for 10 hours straight. I prefer the face to face classes, the human touch, the normal classroom. I just want corona to end as fast as possible so that I can go back to the normal world.

Story Session Writing Fundamentals
In my previous blog I mentioned that I would post later about one of my activities in Writing Fundamentals Class. Here it is I hope you enjoy my story.
In our Zoom session with Mr Mark today we were broken into breakout rooms, sorry I did not take a snapshot of our session but I hope the story will suffice. So he gave us an example of what makes a plot interesting and a 90 seconds plot of a scenario in world war and we were broken into break out rooms after. In our breakout rooms we were asked to make our own version of a 90 seconds story but there was a twist that the plot had to be a historical event in Indonesian History.
After 12 minutes of discussion time. The story that my groupmates and I came up with was a story back in 1930 when our country was colonised by Netherlands and it was wartime. Our story begun with a lady named Sutejo that has 6 children. She is a widowed mom as her husband just recently passed away. She runs a small krupuk "warung" or shop by herself to support her children. Since the Netherlands colonised Batavia (a place now known as Jakarta but in the olden days was Batavia), her life was more of a misery every passing moment. The Netherlands representative took all the food of the Batavians including Sutejo. Her oldest son could not accept this and fought back to the Netherlands. One day, he was kidnapped and he never returned home. None of Sutejo's family members knew what happened to him, he just simply vanished. She had to keep her family alive somehow. This led her to build a secret granary in her toilet to stalk all the food. Unfortunately, she met a netherlands soldier and he fell in love with her. Will her secrets be revealed? Will she still have grudge with netherlands for her sons disappearance? Will he accept her for who she is? Will they marry?
That's it for today. Thanks for reading ! I hope you enjoyed our work of fiction. Stay safe and healthy everyone.

First Writing Fundamentals Class at Binus International
Hi Everyone, its me Sudiksha and this is my first time writing a blog. For today's session we had a class why would a man steal a bicycle. We learnt a lot about story formation and what makes a story interesting. I really loved how my friends and my teacher Mark had so much energy, although the class was till 6 in the evening we still had that spirit till the end of the class. We were also shown a video about spreading awareness of wearing a mask, however, the story was based in the US and our teacher asked us who the actors and co-stars would be if it happened in our country. We were also separated in groups of 5 and we were asked to create a 90-second interesting story of a historical event in Jakarta. We presented our ideas and to Mike our lecturer and he gave us feedback on how we can improve our story, especially improving our structure. That's it for now I will be writing more about the story that my group created in this class in my next post.
Goodbye!
Stay Safe & Healthy!
